Wake Up!
--Seize THIS Moment

by Leena St. Michael

It's after midnight and I'm rockin' to John Mellencamp singin' "Ain't That America", Stevie Wonder takin' me to "Higher Ground" and PETE SEGER(!) reminding me that "This land was made for you and me" during the online HBO rebroadcast of Sunday afternoon's Inaugural Concert. The theme is "WE ARE ONE". I'm cryin' every five minutes, I'm so inspired. I'm staying up another couple hours to enjoy the whole thing. I don't want to miss a moment of this, the most inspired television I've experienced in my lifetime. 'Cause this IS the moment. THIS is the time I've been waiting for and I don't want to waste it by sleeping, tonight.

This e-newsletter says "Inspiration, Insight, Action". I'm just starting to see why these words came to me. Dear Ones, It's time to be inspired by our new president, the first African American President who truly loves his family, who is dis-mantling Guantanamo, who brings people of all races and beliefs together to face each other and solve problems together.

It's time to develop trust in our innate wisdom and insight when we witness a pilot from Danville, California making a life-saving split second decision to land a jet airliner in the frigid Hudson River just 90 seconds after both jet engines were simultaneously knocked out.

And, today, January 19th, it's time to act. It's time to serve. This special edition is the start of my National Day of Service. I sure didn't plan it this way. But tomorrow will be too late.

UPDATE! Catch the rebroadcast FREE online at HBO.com at 1:00ET/PT and additional times listed on the site.

Today: National Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day--Let's Renew America Together
www.usaservice.org

Barack Obama said, during the Inaugural Concert, that he chose this day to invite everyone to give service because giving service brings people together. Working together, giving selfless service, is the action step to manifest the dream of Martin Luther King...and, just maybe, form a little more perfect union. "Seva", the Sanskrit term for selfless service, is one of the precepts of Classical Ashtanga Yoga, considered the royal path of yoga.

Today people across the country will attend service events in their communities to answer the President-elect’s call to service. Be among them.

For those who have suddenly been"graduated" from their job--the best way to stay enthused, remember how valuable you are and...make contacts...is through community service.

There's tree-planting, cleaning up beaches, helping a senior citizen or disabled veteran, volunteering at an animal rescue center to joining in a national conference call to chant for peace.

President-elect Obama’s initiative to Renew America Together begins today, and it’s not too late for you to get involved.  Find an event to attend at USAservice.org or text SERVICE to 56333 for more information. You may also post an event that you've created!

Be the Change!
Change.gov: Our Online Epicenter for Innovative Transparent Government

If you can't get out of the office to do community service, today, go to http://change.gov. Post your dreams and ideas. Apply for a position. Declare what you think should be the Obama Administration's top priorities. Read and vote on what others have posted. You have been asked. Your voice counts. Seize the opportunity and take action, now.

Every week Obama posts his weekly video address. Daily the site posts what the transition team is doing and who is being appointed to key positions. The site is developing rapidly. You may want to check daily and keep them informed of what you think about how they're going about the administration of our country.

180 Degrees of Transformation--
Are You Experiencing The Whiplash of Change?

Last week nearly every yoga class seemed to be suffering an epidemic of stiff and sore neck and shoulders. I couldn't figure it out. It was the first time that students across the board all had the same type of tension.

I checked my Louise Hay classic metaphysical manual, "Heal Your Body" for her take on the thought-forms that manifest neck and shoulder issues. She related them to stubborness. It didn't quite click.

It's not stubbornness. It's the radical times we're in. Particularly, it's these few days of a 180 degree change in leadership, vision, priorities and values. We're literally all experiencing transformation whiplash!

Bush out. Obama in. People losing jobs, money, homes, companies. New businesses and industries forming on a daily basis. New movements of consciousness and communication taking shape before our very eyes.

So if you have a particularly stiff or achy neck or shoulders, join the country. Get to a yoga class, spa or massage practitioner. Come see me at Crow Canyon Country Club, or KURE Wellness Retreat for Reiki, compassionate counseling or private/semi-private yoga. Take a nap. And, of course, breathe.
