| What is Spiritual Mind Treatment?
It is…literally that. A treatment to get our mind and energies focused on spiritual truth and Divine purpose, instead of limiting concepts or beliefs. Employing the power of our words, conviction, intention and emotion, we literally can change our health and create our lives. In fact, we ARE doing this all the time, but most of the time we’re not conscious of the thoughts that run us.
Spiritual Mind Treatment is more than positive thinking. It is more than “affirmative prayer”. It is truly a conscious generating, focusing and directing life force energy via the mind, emotions and, eventually action.
Spiritual Mind Treatment is NOT saying the perfect words in the perfect order which would be more like casting a spell. The intellectual or linguistic exercise of prayer without the sincere contemplation and faith to generate emotional energy of gratitude, enthusiasm and eventually peace is minimally transforming.
The five-step treatment process used in Science of Mind and the Church of Religious Science, simply applies the universal organic process that people of all faiths go through in true prayer whether one prays to Jesus, Buddha, Angels or the light within…or whether one is considered an aetheist or practitioner of Quantum Physics principles (as explained in the movie (“What the Bleep…?”)
Studies say that 80-90% of all people believe in the power of prayer. This simple method packs a lot of power in our prayer!
Leena spent three years in a rigorous and transforming program meditation, classes, introspection, service and the practice of Spiritual Mind Treatment including written tests, oral panels and verified healing demonstrations to earn licensing as a Religious Science Practitioner through the United Church of Religious Science. She has maintained that license for eleven years. Practitioners take a vow upon licensing to “Know the power and presence of God 24/7.”
Applying this process each morning to direct one’s life force can create and unimaginable life. Applying Spiritual Mind Treatment to life’s situation can appear to create miracles.
Step 1: Recognition
Center with sitting til calm and able to observe the relaxed, slowed breath.
Contemplate the one power, one presence and infinite source of knowledge that binds us all…that connects us all…that we all are made of. The Universe: One Song. We may remind ourselves of nature—stars, flowers, animals, oceans. We may contemplate that all people want love, peace, joy and harmony and these qualities and intentions we share are the binding stuff of the Universe. We may chant OM/AUM, the primordial sound of the Universe that, according to Biblical and Hindu scriptures, “…the word was of God and the word WAS God”. Maybe we contemplate atoms, protons and neutrons and the space between them…and that nothing is really solid, it’s all space… Maybe we open our hearts to the love of Jesus or Buddha.
However we get there, we stay in this silent or spoken contemplation until we feel and sense this Presence.
Step 2: Unification
Contemplate…remember…that, if there is a “Uni” Verse…One Song…then…I must be part of that. There isn’t a di-verse or tri-verse. This life force…light…consciousness…energy pervades all and is me. I am the love. I am the peace. I have access to the omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence of the Universe. As you become convinced sincerely, no matter how long it takes, then…
Step 3: Realization
Direct this awareness to the current situation where there appears to be lack, loss or limitation. (or gratitude or celebration!)
Begin to contemplate that…If there is One Life consciousness/light/love/energy and I am of that consciousness/light/love/energy, then I can realize and direct the spiritual qualities I choose right here and now to this situation or person.
Qualities may include and are not limited to: love, peace, health, joy, abundance, harmony, freedom, beauty, Divine Right Action, Divine relationship/transportation, purification, perfect digestion, assimilation and elimination or strength to name just a few.
The highest form of prayer is the surrender or trust in faith that all is working for the best and highest good of all. Yogis call it “ishwarapranidana”, surrender to God. Praying for things or specific outcomes is always limiting. The Bible says that faith is “the evidence of things not seen”. The prima-fascia evidence… The invisible is more real than that chair you’re sitting in right now.
Sometimes surrender in faith looks like the “cry and pray” mode. It’s OK. Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi, The Hugging Saint) says that the “cry and pray” method is the most effective! One is at a complete loss as to how to fix things in the physical world and ends up perhaps on their knees, wailing away and asking God for help! Faith, even just as tiny as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Remember, the mustard seed contains within it all the potential of the large mustard tree.
Sometimes people who have been abused or violated have a hard time with the concept of surrender. Master Yogi Baba Hari Das describes forced surrender as “the king who does not want to surrender to the conquerer” instead of the joyous relaxing in trust when one knows that they are always Divinely supported…and they realize they co-create with Supreme Consciousness, so there is no concern about outcome.
Continue this contemplation until you feel the heart open in…
Step 4: Gratitude
When you feel that complete sense of gratitude, you can’t lose. The heart is full, the energy has been transformed. You’re celebrating life just as it is. You have “let go and let God”, as the saying goes. Ask any guru, saint, sage, minister, Quantum physicist…even Oprah(!). Gratitude is the highest form of prayer. If you are in the state of gratitude to the Universe, you are already living Steps 1, 2, and 3.
Make your gratitude list. Be grateful for each breath, every blade of grass.
As some point, you’ll feel complete and…
Step 5: Release
You’ll wonder what all the fuss was about. There won’t be anything to pray about. It’s time to “treat and move your feet” as they say in Religious Science. Simply rest knowing that it is done. You align with the prayer intention and take any action to which you are guided. You are of the Divine. Your contemplation, your prayer and spoken word is Divine truth, so there’s nothing more to say or do. There is no energetic of worry.
Sometimes, we naturally feel so full with our spiritual awareness, that we can go directly to “It is done”.
Step 6 (optional): Repeat as often as necessary until there is a demonstration.
The peace that comes with sincere treatment IS the answered prayer. This is the peace that passes all human, all logical understanding. This is the space of wonder, discovery and unimaginable possibilities manifest.
